Ningbo-Zhoushan ranked most competitive among China ports
The 2008 Chinese port competitiveness ranking, which is jointly carried out by www.shippingchina.com and China Port and Shipping Institute, has named eastern China's Ningbo-Zhoushan Port as the most competitive, reports Xinhua.
Shanghai ranked second while Qingdao placed third which was followed by Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dalian and Lianyungang.
Under the influence of the world economic downturn, the ability to cope with the emergency and face risks was the basis of selection.
Ningbo-Zhoushan Port tops the list for showing its robust competitive strength by launching the first 300,000-tonne, 24-hour operating artificial deepwater sailing channel and expanding its coverage by cooperating with its hinterland city customs offices on facilitating cargo clearance, said the report.
