Maersk to hike Australia - Asia rates
Maersk Line announced plans to implement a rate increase for the trade moving from Australia to Northeast Asia, as part of a rate restoration program.
Effective May 4, freight rates from Australia to Japan, South Korea, Russia, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan will increase by $100 per 20-foot and $150 per 40-foot container for dry and reefer shipments.
“Rates are currently at unsustainable levels and rate increases are therefore necessary to allow Maersk Line to continue offering our current service portfolio to customers,” the Denmark-based company said in an announcement.
