Montreal Port drops tariff Increase on June 30
The Montreal Port Authority on Wednesday told shippers and shipping lines it is rescinding its 5 percent tariff increase for 2009.
The increase, which went into effect last January 1, will be terminated on June 30, the MPA advised in a notice published in Montreal newspapers. The tariff returns to 2008 levels.
The MPA notice says that current electricity service charges remain unchanged, "unless Hydro Quebec (the provincial utility) modifies its own rates in 2009."
