Cargo turnover of Nakhodka port up 2.3% in January-November 2006

Cargo turnover of Nakhodka port grew by 2.3%, year-on-year, amounting to 7 141.2 thou tons, PortNews IAA learnt from the Eastern Branch of Rosmorport FSUE. Over the reported period the port handled 5 343.5 thou tons of general cargo (+10.6% against year-on-year result), including 236.8 thou tons of containerized cargo (+91.4%), 4 890.2 thou tons of metal (+9.3 %), 31.9 thou tons of metal scrap (-21.8%), 1 721.2 thou tons of timber (+11.5%) including 1 415.8 thou tons of round timber (+13.7%), 305.4 thou tons of sawn materials (+2.6%). In the 11-month period the port handled 76.5 thou tons of dry bulk cargo (7.9 times less compared to January-November 2005) including 17.5-fold decrease in transshipment of coal and coke (12.2 thou tons). Transshipment of ore totaled 66.3 thou tons (6 times less compared to January-November 2005).

Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port has year round navigation. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
