Container turnover of Odessa Commercial Seaport up 35.7% in January-November 2006

According to the information provided by Odessa Commercial Seaport, volume of containers transshipped in January-November 2006 totaled 351.865 thou TEU (+35.7%, or +92.706 TEU against year-on-year result), RZD-Partner reports. In 2005, the dynamics was +28.3% (+57.189 thou TEU). In November container turnover totaled 36.741 thou TEU (+27% against November  2005, +2.7% against October 2006). The highest growth rates were demonstrated in the sector of container import +42% in 11M06, year-on-year, (+58.331 thou TEU, to 196.5 thou TEU). The share of loaded containers was over 99% of all container import. Container export grew by 29% (+34.373 thou TEU, to 155.3 thou TEU) with the share of loaded containers making 22.5% (against 30.5% in 2005). In general, the dynamics of loaded containers was +42.3% in import and -2% in export, which reflects growing disbalance in loading of containers going via Ukraine’s ports. In units, the port handled 226.276 thou containers in January-November 2006 (+36.1%, or +59.892 thou containers against the 11-month period of the similar period of the previous year. In 2005 the dynamics was +37.9%, or +31.895 thou containers). Number of calls – 596 (+16% against January-November 2005).
