Moldova will be able to resume meat exports to Russia before the end of the year, the head of the Russian veterinary watchdog, Sergei Dankvert, told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
“On December 19, after the talks with Moldova we plan to ink a protocol on meat trade resumption,” he said.
“Russia will import Moldovan meat in compliance with the same scheme as that with Ukraine - from meatpacking plants certified by Russian experts,” Dankvert said.
Earlier, Russian Agricultural Minister Alexei Gordeyev said the resumption of Moldovan meat exports as had been agreed at the meeting of the two countries’ presidents on November 28 will proceed in a ‘one window’ regime.
“All export items will go through a special checkpoint, where Russian and Moldovan specialists will check up their quality to prevent forgery cases and re-export,” he said.
