Samsung Heavy Industries built and delivered the 4,253-TEU capacity ship on schedule. It is 260 meters long, 32 meters wide and has a speed of 24.5 knots (about 45 Km/h). The Zim Luanda commenced its 12-year time charter at fixed rates immediately upon delivery.
"We are pleased to have taken delivery of our latest containership from Samsung Heavy Industries," said Dr. John Coustas, president and CEO of Danaos. The charter with Zim Line provides Danaos with an effective hedge against market charter rate volatility. It increases the company’s strong cash flows to further support growth, he said.
