By the end of the first half of 2009, the volume of transit transportation of Ukrzaliznytsya (Ukrainian Railway) reduced by more than 1/3. The company’s revenue fell by 15%.
Thus, the volume of transit freight carried by Ukrzaliznytsya decreased by approximately 20 mln tons. The reason for it was the redirection of Russian cargo flows to Russian southern ports at the Black Sea. The tendency became especially strong by the end of H1.
The decrease in the company’s revenue was not so significant due to tariffs growth, which took place in early 2009.
