Throughput of Mariupol Commercial Seaport down 30.2% to 5.5 mln t in H1 09

In the first half of 2009, Commercial Seaport  of Mariupol (Donetsk region, Ukraine) handled 5.45 million tonnes of cargo (-30.2%, year-on-year), Transport Business Portal refers to the company.

In the reported period, the company handled 2.95 million tonnes of metal (-17.2%), 1.51 million tonnes of coal (-20.1%, year-on-year). Transit of sulfur amounted to 552,800 tonnes.

Grain transshipment via Mariupol port increased 3.8 times to 403,500 tonnes.

Commercial seaport of Mariupol is one of three largest ports of Ukraine. The port’s berths are capable of handling vessels with length of up to 240 meters and draft of up to 8 meters. The port handles ferrous and non-ferrous metal, cast iron, ore, coal, coke, clay fertilizers, sulfur, equipment (including large size and heavy equipment), heavy fuel oil (ship-to-ship), grain, containers and packaged cargo.
