In January-June loading of liquid bulk cargo fell by 11.4%, year-on-year, to 5.365 million tonnes, dry bulk – by 20.7% to 4.075 million tonnes, general cargo – by 23.7% to 3.587 million tonnes.
In the reported period, loading of containers decreased by 32% to 123,800 TEU, ro-ro cargo – by 22% to 81,300 units. In the first half of the year the port handled 3,600 vessels (-11%) and served 119,600 passengers (-0.3%).
In 2008, the port of Klaipeda loaded 29.877 million tonnes of cargo (+9.2%, year-on-year).
