China 'S first bonded port area in a hinterland region, which is located at river city Chongqing's Cuntan port area, has started construction and is scheduled to commence operations in early December this year, Xinhua reported.
The first phase of the bonded port area covers 2.13 square kilometres and is separated into two sections for river port and airport. The river port area will be located near the Cuntan terminal, covering 1.09 square kilometres. The airport area will cover 1.04 square kilometres, next to the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. Construction is expected to be finished in November.
The facility is to cover 8.37 square kilometres on completion. River port area will cover six square kilometres, while the airport will cover 2.37 square kilometres. Construction will be divided into three phases with completion expected in 2015.
