RUR 2 bln to be additionally allocated in July 09 for construction of SPb passenger port

In July 2009, RUR 2 bln to be additionally allocated for the construction of a passenger port in St. Petersburg, PortNews IAA reporter cites Nikolai Asaul, Head of St. Petersburg Committee for Transit Transport Policy, as saying at the meeting of the Marine Council of St. Petersburg Government. 

According to Asaul, total allocations of the municipal budget is to exceed RUR 10 bln in 2008-2011. As of today, the city has already invested RUR 3 bln. Nikolai Asaul forecasts 112 vessels with 238 passengers are to call to St. Petersburg passenger port by the end of this navigation.

Marine Facade is a strategic investment project of St. Petersburg. Complete implementation of the project envisaging construction of 7 marine passenger berths and a complex of coastal infrastructure is scheduled for 2010.

The project on construction of a marine passenger terminal and development of the Vasiljevsky Island’s western part envisages reclamation of 476 hectares to be occupied by the terminal, residential area as well as social and commercial facilities. The project’s first phase envisages construction of three berths with necessary facilities. The capacity of the passenger terminal during the high season is supposed to make 12,000 passengers per day.
