Prisco and GC Rieber Shipping acquire two new vessels for work on Sakhalin shelf

Joint Venture Company with the participation of Prisco and Norwegian Company GC Rieber Shipping has got two new vessels for work on Sakhalin shelf. High-speed passenger vessels “Polar Baikal” and “Polar Piltun” went down to work under Russian flag. Port of their documentation is Kholmsk. Russian crews are serving the vessels.

According to the contract between Sakhalin Energy Company, which has both vessels in five-year time-charter, and project operator Sakhalin-2, they must deliver specialists, who work on oil-producing platforms in Okhotsk Sea Kaigan Gulf, situated on the north of Sakhalin.

This is the first time when such vessels taking part in the work of shelf projects. Although on their small-sizes: length of one vessel is 29 meters, other is 35 meters, width is 9 and 10 meters accordingly – they are able to take on board 70 people each. And speed of 27 knots in compression with other vessels allows almost twice cut down the travel time.

Before return to work both catamarans were modernized. Norwegian shipbuilders further equipped vessels for work in subzero temperatures and increase number of cabins.

We remind that there some other vessels on Sakhalin shelf works, which owned joint ventures with the participation of Prisco. These vessels are: vessel for liquefied natural gas transportation, ice reinforcement towing hawser and supply vessels of icebreaking type. Besides this, 5 Prisco tankers with 100 thousand tons deadweight export Sakhalin oil.
