Work on a rail bridge linking the Indian mainland with the site of a new international container terminal is almost complete, according to reports.
The bridge, due to be ready in November, is 4.62 kilometres long and will be the longest rail bridge in India.
It links Vallarpadam Island with the mainland near the southern Indian port of Cochin (Kochi).
The first phase of the new container terminal is due to be commissioned late this year.
The container terminal project includes plans for an international bunker terminal and LNG and cruise-ship terminals.
Initial plans called for the bunker terminal to have a capacity of one million metric tonnes (mt), increasing to five million mt.
India's Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPC) started selling bonded 180 centistoke (cst) bunker fuel in the existing port of Cochin in May.
