A Command Centre located at Jebel Ali Terminal 2 oversees operation of the system, which includes an extensive network of security cameras covering all port operations, explained a DP World official.
Mohammed Al Muallem, SVP and managing director, UAE Region, said: “The installation of the new ISS is tangible evidence of DP World, UAE Region’s continued commitment to lead the industry in the application of cutting edge security policies and technologies. I congratulate the project team for its remarkable efforts.”
An Access Control System (ACS) ensures enhanced security at terminal entry and exit points. ISS features an Identity Management System (IDMS), providing key information on persons at work inside the terminal, Al Muallem noted.
In addition to identity and location, IDMS tracks aspects of employee performance over time, he added.
The successful completion of the project ensures the widest possible security cover at the port, and exceeds standards mandated by national and international agencies. The IDMS, will help to increase operational safety and reduce cost, Al Muallem stated.
Abdulla Al Marri, regional security manager, Operations, DP World, UAE Region, and head of ISS Project Management Team, said: “The implementation of ISS is the fruit of 18 months’ extremely hard work. The system will add tremendous value to Jebel Ali’s operations, by controlling workflow and ensuring that the right person is at the right place at the right time.”
