NUTEP plans to raise capacity of NCC terminal in Novorossiysk by 26.5%

On July 31, Nodal Transporting and Forwarding Company of Novorossiysk OJSC (NUTEP) will put into operation its new container handling crane (Liebherr, Ireland). It is to be the third ship-to-shore crane at the terminal. According to National Container Company (NCC) which operates the Novorossiysk terminal, this new equipment will allow the terminal to increase its capacity to 215,000 TEU per year.

As of today the terminal is capable of handling 170,000 TEU, Interfax reports. So introduction of the third crane will increase the capacity by 26.5%.
 
The crane was acquired within the framework of an investment program on NUTEP development during 2007-2014. The program implies the terminal’s capacity increase to 500,000 TEU. Total investment is toexceed $140 mln.

According to NCC, in January-May 2009, NUTEP decreased cargo handling by 29.9%, year-on-year, having handled 40,593 TEU.

National Container Company (NCC) is the leading Russian operator of container terminals. NCC is owned in equal shares by First Quantum and FESCO transport group.
