Prime Minister of Greece visited RS stand at Posidonia

Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Antonis Samaras visited the stand of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) at ‘Posidonia 2014’ international maritime exhibition in Athens, RS says in its press release. The head of the Greek Government expressed a high opinion about the work of the Russian maritime specialists.

Every other year, ‘Posidonia’ gathers the leading representatives of the international maritime industry. This year, the event takes place from 2 till 6 June. RS is the only Russian organisation that permanently participates in the exhibition.

As Antonis Samaras noted during the exhibition opening ceremony, Greece is overcoming the crisis and stands a good chance to become a regional energy hub. Besides, high hopes are put on the construction of new gas carriers. According to open sources, Greek shipowners have already placed orders for the construction of 26 LPG carriers and 43 LNG carriers.

At present, flying the flag of Greece are more than 60 RS-classed ships. About 90 RS-classed are owned or operated by Greek companies.

‘Posidonia’ international exhibition is held every other year in Athens, Greece. In 2014, about 1900 exhibitors from 93 countries participate in the exhibition. It is expected that the number of visitors will reach 19000 people this year.
