Hapag-Lloyd to restructure the existing West Africa Service Network

Hapag-Lloyd will restructure the existing West Africa Service Network, comprising of our West Africa Service (WAX) as well as West Africa Mediterranean Express (WMX), the company said in its press release.

Effective end of June 2014 we will be merging both complementary products into one single comprehensive service, by directly calling at Lagos/Apapa as well as adding a second Algeciras (northbound) call to the rotation.

In addition - and following market requirements - we will be re-instating a direct UK call to the schedule of the enhanced West Africa service by mid July 2014, thus completing the restructuring.

The revised port rotation will be:
Antwerp • Hamburg • London Gateway • Algeciras • Dakar • Lagos/Apapa • Tema • Abidjan • Algeciras • Antwerp

The first sailings with the revised rotation are as follows:
 Phase 1 (adding Lagos/Apapa and Algeciras northbound)
 o Frisia Helsinki, voy. 1409s ets Antwerp – June 24, 2014
 Phase 2 (adding London Gateway)
 o Frisia Lubeck, voy 1410s ets London Gateway – July 22, 2014
The direct service to Cotonou, Benin will be suspended for the time being.
The revised WAX will provide service network at the ports of:
 Algeciras
 - from and to East/West Mediterranean as well as Canada/Montreal Gateway
 Hamburg
 - from and to Poland, Baltic States, Russia and Scandinavia
 Antwerp & London Gateway
 - US East/US West Coast, Mexico as well as Middle East and Indian Ocean
