The WW group announces its full membership of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN). As a member of MACN the WW group makes an active contribution to the elimination of corruption in the maritime industry, the company said in its press release.
MACN is a global business network working towards the vision of a maritime industry free of corruption that enables fair trade to the benefit of society at large. MACN works to promote good corporate practice in the maritime industry for tackling bribes, facilitation payments and other forms of corruption by developing and sharing best practice, creating awareness of the challenges and collaborating with key stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions.
“For the WW group, this membership is very important. We are an active member of MACN which means we will invest working hours into the network to present our best practises, learn from other shipping companies, and put focus on global areas and topics that are a concrete issue for us today”, says Chief Legal Office in the WW group, Morten Aaserud. He explains that WW will be part of so-called collective action teams. By participating in MACN collective action teams, the WW group has a greater impact in improving global corruption issues than acting alone.
MACN also collaborates with key stakeholders, including governments, authorities, and international organizations, in markets where corruption is prevalent to its membership, to identify and mitigate the root causes of corruption in the maritime industry.
