Throughput of Klaipeda Seaport up 10.4% to 6.04 mln t in Jan-Feb’15
Successful implementation of investment projects accounting approximately for 90 percent is one of the factors helping Klaipeda Seaport to win in the competitive struggle, the port’s press center says.
Within the period of January – February of 2015 the turnover of Klaipeda Seaport cargo handling increased as many as by 10,4 pct. – totally 6,04 mln tn, i.e. more by 568,1 thou. tn comparing with January – February of 2014 were handled.
In the ranking list of the increase of cargo handling turnover achieved in January – February of 2015 in all Baltic region seaports Klaipeda Seaport occupies the third place (+10,4 pct. or +568,1 thou. tn year-on-year) after Ust Luga Seaport (+23,8 pct. or +2 586,4 thou. tn year –on-year) and Primorsk Seaport (+7,6 pct. or +700,2 thou. tn year –on-year).
Basic cargo types that made the impact on successful cargo handling results in January - February of 2015 were as follows:
fertilizers – 2 112,9 thou tn were handled (+34,2 pct. or +538,2 thou. tn yoy);
oil products – 1 295,7 thou. tn were transhiped (+48,0 pct. or +420,3 thou. tn yoy);
iron and steel products – 131,0 thou. tn were handled (4,3 times or more by 100,3 thou tn)
Basic cargo types that saw a decrease in January-February of 2015 were as follows:
containerised cargoes – 838,9 thou. tn were handled ( -3,8 pct. or -33,0 thou. tn yoy);
Ro-Ro cargoes – 649,9 thou. tn were handled (-5,3 pct. or -19,2 thou. tn yoy);
grain – 342,4 thou. tn were handled (-5,3 pct. or -19,2 thou. tn yoy);
930 vessels were reported to call Klaipeda Seaport in January – February of 2015,e. less by 0,1 pct. or by 1 vessel comparing with the corresponding period of 2014.
Within the analysed period 19 432 passengers visited Klaipeda Seaport , i. e., less by 7,6 pct. or by 1 592 passengers than in January – February of 2014.
