Cargo throughput at Finland's Port of Helsinki in January 2016 edged up 0.6% on last year's January figures and totaled 775,200 tonnes, the Port Authority statistics showed.
The port terminals moved 352,900 tonnes, nearly the same volume as in January 2015, while exports increased by 1.1% to 422,300 tonnes.
Container throughput in the reporting period rose 17.3% to 33,900 TEUs.
Passenger traffic grew by 0.6% to 626,100 people.
Port of Helsinki is one of Finland's largest ports, the largest passenger port in the country and is ranked as the third busiest port by cargo tonnage in the Baltic Sea. Helsinki handles 77% of all passenger traffic in Finland. In 2015 Port of Helsinki freight throughput grew by 5.3% and totaled 11.4 million tonnes.
