Laying of pipes under Nord Stream 2 project will begin in 2017, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Oleg Gazprom CEO Aleksey Miller, as saying at the SPIEF (St. Petersburg International Economic Forum).
Aleksey Miller says 60% of the pipes will be produced in Russia. The pipe-laying companies are to be selected later.
Gazprom CEO also emphasizes that economic efficiency of the project is 2-2.7 times higher as compared with the corridor via Ukraine.
Nord Stream 2 is a new export gas pipeline running from Russia to Europe across the Baltic Sea.
