Russian Railways' network loading up 1.6% to 809.6 mln t in January-August 2016

In January-August 2016, the network of Russian Railways loaded 809.6 mln t, up 168%, the Company’s press center says.

In the reported period the railways shipped the following goods:

coal – 214 mln t (+3.2%, year-on-year); coke – 7.7 mln t (+2.75%); crude and oil products – 156.6 mln t (-7.5%); iron and manganese ores – 73.2 mln t (+1.3); ferrous metal – 47.3 mln t (-1.8%); ferrous metal scrap – 9.6 mln t (-4.7%); chemical and mineral fertilisers – 35 mln t (+2.7%); cement – 18.6 mln t (-5.3%); forest cargo – 29 mln t (+7.9%); grain – 11.1 mln t (+5.4%); construction materials – 97.9 mln t (+17.2%); non-ferrous ore and sulphur feedstock – 14.2 mln t (+4.7%); chemicals and soda – 16.9 mln t (+2%); industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 22.8 mln t (+1.4%).

From the year beginning freight turnover totaled 1,536.4 bln tariff ton-km (+1.5%). Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs was 1,966.2 bln ton-km (+1.2%).

In August, Russian Railways loaded 105.9 mln t, up 0.7%, year-on-year. 

Freight turnover in August climbed by 2.1% to 198 bln tariff ton-km. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs declined by 101.9% to 252.3 bln ton-km.
