DCT implements e.Brama appointment system for trucking companies

DCT says it implements e.Brama appointment system for trucking companies.

e.Brama (e.Gate in English) is a vehicle booking system which will be obligatory for all trucking companies arriving at DCT Gdansk. These kinds of systems are already used in the largest ports of Europe and the world e.g. Hamburg, Antwerp, Rotterdam or Felixstowe. The system will allow truck companies/drivers to decide when they would like to pick up or drop off full containers (the process does not concern the empty ones). After choosing a suitable time slot – it will be possible by logging into the e.Brama system – the driver creates an appointment and declares his arrival in the chosen time frame.

After laborious process of creating e.Brama system, in May 2016 DCT Gdansk started kick-off meetings with carriers and freight forwarders. During 15 meetings the future e.Brama users had an opportunity to learn the main functionalities and goals of the system and talk to all of e.Brama project group members.

Then the internal technical tests and polishing up of the system took place so that trucking companies and drivers could start their practical e.Brama trainings in December 2016. There were 10 external training sessions where 113 future e.Brama users have been instructed how to use the system. DCT also provided internal trainings available for all drivers visiting the terminal’s pre-gate building – already 382 drivers trained.

The next phase of the project was first live tests. Special thanks to 25 trucking companies which volunteered to test the vehicle booking system for the very first time. The tests aimed to check the compatibility of e.Brama and Navis. The tests went well. Transport companies which took part have been sending their comments on how did the system work.

Currently DCT is receiving registration forms from the trucking companies. The registration process is necessary to use the vehicle booking system. It have already received about 340 forms and each of them contains from several to even hundred truck drivers.

e.Brama project is entering two final implementation phases:

Phase I, which will start in the second half of February 2017

Obligatory appointments during peak hours. In DCT the peak hours are movable. DCT will inform beforehand about the time range in which the drivers will have to appoint their visits. If a driver arrives during those peak hours without the appointment in e.Brama system, he will not be able to pick up or drop off the container.

In some cases the drivers who arrive without the appointment will be transferred to the buffer parking lot inside the terminal, where they will be waiting for their turn. DCT ensures priority service to the drivers who appointed their visits in e.Brama system.

Phase II, which will start in the second half of March 2017

From this moment on e.Brama vehicle booking system is the only way to pick up or drop off a full container in DCT Gdansk.

The appointment visits will be mandatory 24 hours for every truck driver arriving at DCT Gdansk.

The fixed dates of final implementation phases will be published soon.

Current information is available through official DCT Gdansk webpage, DCT Gdansk facebook profile, E-mail correspondence, Information leaflets.
