APL voted 'Best Shipping Line in the Transpacific' at the 2017 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards

APL has been named the ‘Best Shipping Line in the Transpacific’ at the 2017 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards last evening, in Singapore, the company said in its press release. Determined through votes cast by industry stakeholders, customers, global shippers and readers of Asia Cargo News, the Award recognises APL as the preferred shipping carrier for the Transpacific market with outstanding leadership, service quality, innovation, customer relationship management and reliability in this segment category.

APL’s strong following in the Transpacific is apparent in its Asia-North America volume growth of 34% in Q12017 as compared to 1Q2016. APL’s market share in the Transpacific also rose to 6.7% in 1Q2017 from 5.2% in 1Q2016. Attributing to APL’s advancements are its compelling product offerings, service reliability and support, as well as deployment of capabilities.

In particular, APL’s signature Eagle Express (EX1) service that plies between Asia and the U.S. West Coast has been maintaining a near perfect on time arrival record at the port of Los Angeles. Raising the bar of the EX1 service to a time-definite one, APL offers Eagle Guaranteed, a promise of day-definite arrival of shipment on the EX1 service at six inland locations in the Americas from the Global Gateway South (GGS) Terminal in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, APL’s Eagle Stow promises expeditious cargo availability within 12 hours of vessel cargo operation and ready-cargo on-chassis from the GGS Terminal in Los Angeles.

It marks a game-changer for APL when it further advances in the Transpacific trade with 18 services of the OCEAN ALLIANCE. Apart from offering the widest market coverage, best-in-class transits and superior connectivity from Asia to both the U.S. West Coast and East Coast regions, APL also transformed the Indonesia-U.S trade lane with its Pendulum Loop 1 - West Coast (PE1) service, the industry’s first direct service from Jakarta to the U.S. West Coast in April 2017.

Today, APL offers a total of 22 services in the Trans-Pacific trade, including 18 services of the OCEAN ALLIANCE and 4 services outside the alliance.

Also serving two of the Northern Mariana Islands, a commonwealth of the United States in the western Pacific Ocean, APL offers the weekly Guam Saipan Express (GSX) service that calls the ports of Busan, Yokohama, Guam and Saipan.
