RosTransModernizatsiya orders construction of railway approaches to Taman port’s dry cargo area
The Federal Treasury Institution “Directorate of the state customer for realization of the Federal target program “Modernization of transport system of Russia” (FTI RosTransModernizatsiya) has ordered the detailed design and construction of railway approaches to the dry cargo area at the seaport of Taman for RUB 29,288,579,830,000.
The contract is to be completed by 1 July 2020. According to publicly available sources, the contract is to be executed by Russian Railways.
The project on creation of a dry cargo area at the seaport of Taman provides for construction of sea terminals for transshipment of coal, sulphur, metal, mineral and fertilizers as well as terminals for transshipment of oil-bearing and bean crops. The project has already obtained the state expert approval and the state environmental approval. The port’s design capacity is 91.4 mln t including 46.7 mln t of the first phase which is to be completed by 2020. The port will be able to handle ships of up to 150,000 DWT.
The project is to be implemented through private-public partnership including signing of a concession agreement.
