Port of Amsterdam participates in Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show
The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) is the world’s largest boat show with 1,000 exhibitors, more than 1,200 boats and 100,000 visitors! This year’s show was held from 1 through 5 November. Alma Prins, Cruise Sales Manager, was present on behalf of Port of Amsterdam. A special programme was developed to bring Port of Amsterdam, as a partner of the HISWA Holland Yachting Group, to the attention of Dutch yacht builders and suppliers, Port of Amsterdam said in its press release.
Port of Amsterdam wants to attract Dutch yacht builders and suppliers so that it can form a superyacht cluster in the port. The second day of the FLIBS provided an excellent opportunity to have numerous in-depth conversations with several companies attending the show, including Oceanco, Feadship, Hakvoort, Royal Huisman, Amels, Wajer and Heesen. This has extensively and successfully focussed attention on Amsterdam’s potential as a superyacht cluster. Follow-up meetings have been scheduled with a number of different yacht builders in order to further examine their needs and determine whether Amsterdam is a suitable place for a location.
In addition, yacht builders and suppliers are very enthusiastic about placing Amsterdam on the map as a port of call and further developing it for owners or captains of superyachts. A team at Port of Amsterdam will beginning actively working on this in the coming weeks.
