GlavGosEkspertiza (Russia’s General Board of State Expert Review) has approved Phase I of Bagayevsky Hydrosystem project, Sergey Gaidayev, head of Azov-Don Basin Administration told IAA PortNews.
The approval was obtained on November 22.
According to Sergey Gaidayev, the beginning of the construction will depend on weather conditions of the coming winter. He also said that the existing fairway will be closed and vessels will be offered a different one. The construction works will be performed simultaneously with the transit navigation on the Lower Don, emphasized ADBA head adding that Phase II of the project is about to be submitted to GlavGosEkspertiza .
Bagayevsky Hydrosystem will let maintain guaranteed depth of the fairway at the 80-km long part of the Russia’s inland water ways.
Construction of the Bagayevsky hydrosystem included into the Federal Targeted Programme “Development of Russia’s Transport System in 2010–2020” is estimated at RUB 22 bln (including the expenses for the water storage basin).
