Mercury-1 ferry of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company successfully passed sea test after major repairs
Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company says its ferry vessel “Mercury-1 was repaired. After the completion of major repairs, the vessel passed the sea trials.
Works on major repairs started at the Zigh" shipbuilding and repair yard Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company were carried out at a high level.
The main and auxiliary engines, pumps and electric motors of the ferry boat were repaired, works on installation of pipes are executed. The painting of the hull and the deck of the ferry was done. metal sheets are replaced where it was necessary. The cabins are furnished with new furniture, electrical wiring replaced.
The ferry vessel, successfully passed the sea trials, will operate again on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. The vessel will be attracted to regular carriages of railway wagons along the route Baku-Turkmenbashi-Baku, Baku-Aktau-Baku and Baku-Kuryk-Baku.
The length of “Mercury-1” ferry vessel is 154.50, the width - 18.3 meters, and the maximum speed is 15 knots. The ferry accommodates 28 railway wagons.
Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company is the only ferry operator in the Caspian Sea. At present the fleet of the Shipping Company consists of 13 ferries.
