Sevastopol Marine Plant lays down floating crane Sevastopol, Project ПК-400

Sevastopol Marine Plant, branch of Shiprepairing Center Zvyozdochka (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation) has laid down a floating crane of Project ПК-400, Sevastopol.

Zvyozdochka says the 400-tonne crane was designed by Sevastopol based CDB Corall. The contract value is RUB 2.7 bln.

The delivery to the customer, one of Russian companies, is scheduled for QIV’19.

That is the first large order after Sevastopol Marine Plant joined Shiprepairing Center Zvyozdochka.

The latest floating crane was built in Sevastopol in 2005. From 1950-ies the plant delivered more than 70 floating cranes with capacity between 50 and 1,600 t.

The ПК-400 Sevastopol is intended for loading/unloading of different cargoes in protected water areas and in offshore zones as well as for transportation of cargo on the deck.

Key characteristics: length – 64.8 m; breadth – 25.8 m; depth – 5.4 m, height – 35 m; displacement – 3,707 t, weight – 2,927 t, superstructure weight – 1,100 t.

Sevastopol Marine Plant was founded in 1783. Until the 90s of the last century it was one of the largest enterprises in Sevastopol, Crimea generating thousand of jobs for the locals. On March 2015 the Government of Sevastopol and Russia's shipbuilding conglomerate United Shipbuilding Corporation signed a Memorandum on Cooperation with the purpose of reviving the company. Currently, the Zvezdochka's Sevastopol unit specializes in shipbuilding, ship repair, manufacturing onboard and industrial equipment, engineering and manufacturing of metal structures.
