EC delegation meets with management of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company
Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ACSC) says a meeting was held between the European Commission's Director-General for Mobility and Transport, Henrik Hololei and Rauf Veliyev, the Chairman of ACSC.
In the course of the meeting, the Chairman of ACSC Mr. Rauf Veliyev, introduced the guests in details the transport and logistics projects being implemented in our country, including the activities of the Shipping Company. He stressed that today the Company plays a connecting role in the Caspian Sea between Europe and Asia. Today, ACSC is the only ferry operator in the Caspian Sea. The Mr. Veliyev noted that the renewal of the fleet is one of the priority directions of the Shipping Company activity. It was reported that, at the present the construction of two unique ferry vessels of the Ro-Pax type is under construction at the largest manufacturing company - Baku Shipyard, in accordance with the assignment of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Mr. Henrik Golayly highly appreciated the expansion of transport and logistics capabilities of Azerbaijan, intense activity of the Shipping Company in cargo transportation, the launching of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, as well as other projects implemented to transform Azerbaijan into a transport and logistics hub. He noted the presence of good opportunities for further expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
The guests were also informed about the transit services provided by the Shipping Company. At the end of the meeting, it was demonstrated a presentation on the activities of the Shipping Company.
