More than one third of works under first phase of MTH project fulfilled to date – Marina Kovtun

More than one third of works under the first phase of the federal project on comprehensive development of Murmansk Transport Hub (MTH) have been fulfilled to date, Murmansk Region Governor Marina Kovtun told when reporting about the activities of the regional Government in 2017. In her report delivered at Murmansk Duma Marina Kovtun said that those works cost RUB 15.6 billion. According to her, the railway is to be completed in 2020.

Marina Kovtun added that construction of the state-of-the-art coal terminal has begun on the western coast of the Kola Bay. It is designed to handle 18 million tonnes of cargo per year.

“To be sure, MTH development project will be implemented as scheduled. Its implementation … as well as implementation of other projects make it possible to state that our region is turning into an anchor base for the development of Russia’s Arctic zone and into the largest logistic center in the northern area of the country”, said Marina Kovtun.
