Russian President Vladimir Putin has supported the proposal of RF Government to give the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East the power to implement state policy in the Arctic. According to the transcript of the meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the proposal to create the post of First Deputy Minister who will be directly responsible for the Arctic will also be approved.
The expansion of the Ministry’s powers will be complemented with changing its name to Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic Zone (or the Arctic).
