VSC receives positive conclusion of state environmental expertise
The Terminal of Vostochny Stevedoring Company has received a positive conclusion of the state environmental expertise of documents justifying VSC LLC business operation in inland sea waters and the territorial sea, VSC says in a press release. The conclusion is approved by the Order of Pacific Maritime Administration of "Rosprirodnadzor" of Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources.
The data on assessment of the terminal’s operation impact on regional ecosystem and justification of environmental control measures was submitted for consideration of "Rosprirodnadzor" expert commission. According to expert conclusions, the Company’s activity meets the ecological requirements established by the technical regulations and the legislation in the field of environmental protection.
In the conclusion of the commission, in particular, it is noted that the analysis of the assessment results of impact on atmospheric air, water environment, land resources and geologic environment, flora and fauna, as well as water biological resources indicates the acceptability and ecological safety of Company’s operation. The implemented technical solutions and the planned nature protection actions secure the minimization of adverse environmental impact.
The Conclusion of the state environmental expertise issued to Vostochny Stevedoring Company is valid for a period of 5 years.
Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company is one of the biggest container terminals in the Russian Far East. VSC is part of the Global Ports Group. VSC operates in the premises of the Vostochny Port. The total capacity of VSC is 650,000 TEUs per annum. The terminal is the starting point of the Trans-Siberian Railroad.
VSC is implementing a set of measures in accordance with Agreement on Cooperation in Taking Measures to Ensure Favourable Environmental Conditions for the Life and Health of the Nakhodka Population and to Minimize Adverse Environmental Impacts of the Coal Handling Operations.
The agreement was signed by the Ministry of Transport of Russia, the Federal Agency of Sea and River Fleet (“Rosmorrechflot”), the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources (“Rosprirodnadzor”), the Administration of the Primoriye Region, FGUP Rosmorport and Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company LLC (VSC) in June 2018.
