Throughput of port Azov in 7M’19 fell by 25% to 5.37 million tonnes

In January-July 2019, seaport of Azov handled 5.375 million tonnes of cargo, down 25%, year-on-year. According to the stevedoring companies’ statistics, internal turnover of Azov seaport fell by 28% to 4.272 million tonnes. 

Imports remained flat at 239,000 tonnes, exports fell by 6% to 2.613 million tonnes, short-sea traffic – 2 times to 1.420 million tonnes, transit – by 15% to 1.102 million tonnes .

In the reporting period, coal transshipment grew by 50% to 1.027 million tonnes. Transshipment of grain dropped by 43% to 2.692 million tonnes, oil products – by 11% to 1.340 million tonnes.

Turnover of vessels at the port of Azov totaled 1,765 arrivals and 1,767 departures versus 2,335 arrivals and 2,355 departures in the 7-months period of the previous year.

Port of Azov is situated on the banks of the Don river. It is the main gateway between the Mediterranean Sea with the inland waterways of Russia and the Caspian Sea, for freight flows to the central part of Russia, the Urals and Central Asia. The boundaries of the port's basin include the River Don from the 3151.0-km stretch, the Koysug River to the receiving Buoy No 1 of Azov-Don Sea Canal, including outer anchorage No. 6 and the Calancea bayou to Dugino stop-over point.
