Saint-Petersburg based Admiralteiskie Verfi shipyard (a company of United Shipbuilding Corporation) takes part in NEVA 2019, the 15th International Maritime Exhibition and Conferences of Russia. At the exhibition, Admiralteiskie Verfi presents the model of the North Pole ice-resistant self-propelled platform of Project 00903, the shipyard says in a press release.
The shipyard’s exposition also includes a model of the Akademik Tryoshnikov expedition vessel, which has always aroused interest of both specialists and visitors of the exhibition.
“As part of diversification Admiralteiskie Verfi is focused on construction of sophisticated ships of Arctic class. The shipyard is increasing the share of civil ships. By the end of 2019, it is to make about 40% of the company’s order portfolio”, said Aleksandr Buzakov, General Director of Admiralteiskie Verfi.
The North Pole ice-resistant self-propelled platform is intended for round-the-year comprehensive scientific research in high latitudes of the Arctic Ocean. The specialized vessel is unique with high hull strength of Arc8 class, fuel endurance of about two years, service life of at least 25 years, crew of 14 members and scientific personnel of 48 members.
Specifications of the ice-resistant platform: length – 67.8 m; breadth – 22.5 m; displacement – about 7,500 t; power propulsion unit – 3,600 kW; speed - 10 knots.
Admiralteiskie Verfi OJSC (Admiralty Shipyards) is a key enterprise of shipbuilding, a centre of conventional submarine building of Russia. A number of contracts are being successfully implemented at the shipyard for domestic and foreign customers. Two series of submarines are under construction now as well as a series of patrol icebreakers and Victor Chernomyrdin icebreaker for RF Navy. The Company’s staff numbers 6,300 persons. On 5 November 2018 the shipyard celebrated 314 years from its foundation.
