Kersch-based ship building plant "Zaliv" (Crimea, Ukraine) and Norway-based shipbuilding holding Ulstein Group have signed a memorandum on long-term cooperation, RZD-Partner reports. The cooperation started in spring 2007 when the sides signed a contract for construction of a 8,200-dwt vessel for gas and oil platforms maintenance. The vessels’ design provided by the customer is a unique one. The hull's special shape makes it possible to increase navigation capability of the vessel, it also makes the ship more steadfast when storming. The shipyard’s facilities include a drydock measuring 360m by 60m, which enables "Zaliv" to build vessels of up to 340 m in length and up to 54 m in breadth. The construction is to be completed in November 2008. The ULSTEIN and the "Zaliv" expect their cooperation to continue with construction of at least two additional vessels of the same type.
