Throughput of Latvian Railway up 3.8% in Jan-Oct 07, y-o-y

In January-October 2007, Latvijas dzelzcels (LDz, Latvian Railway) transported 42.72 million tonnes of cargo (+3.8%, year-on-year)Interfax reports according to Gudok.RU. Transshipment of oil and oil products totaled 15.879 million tonnes (+6.5%). Transshipment of coal fell by 5.8% to  11.8 million tonnes, grain – grew 2.1-fold to 776,000 tonnes, ferrous metal – grew by 22.4% to 2.221 million tonnes. In 2006, throughput of Latvijas dzelzcels fell by 11.2% - to 48.731 million tonnes. The only owner of Latvijas dzelzcels is the state in the person of the Ministry of Communications.
