FE Shipping Co ends Chukotka-Arctic navigation of 2007

The Far East Shipping Company has ended the Chukotka-Arctic navigation of 2007, Itar-Tass reports. In the period from June to November the company delivered to Arctic areas 210,000 tonnes of general and bulk cargoes, including 126,200 tonnes of coal, the press centre of the shipping company told Itar-Tass.

A total of 11 ships of the company were engaged in the delivery of cargoes. Crews of the motor ships Abakan, Kapitan Shevchenko and Kapitan Lyubchenko excelled in the delivery of over two-thirds of the total cargoes transported.

The Ussuri motor ship has worked in the cargo delivery 145 days ensuring cargo transportation to 78 ports and mainly unequipped locations on the Okhotsk, Sakhalin, Kamchatka and Kuriles coasts. Aside from the cargo delivery from Russian ports vessels of the shipping company delivered from the United States and China 34,400 tonnes of various equipment and machinery for the expansion and development of gold mining enterprises of Chukotka.
