Today, Ukraine and Russia need to re-build substantially the model of the intergovernmental agreement that would provide exploitation of Kerch Strait under new foundations, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko announced yesterday during his visit to Jerusalem, a REGNUM correspondent informs citing the presidential press office.
“The matter concerns, first of all, formulation of demands to various carriers, goods and transportation of goods. Current bilateral treaties with Russia have not provided a complete answer to questions of environmental security of Kerch Straits,” the Ukrainian president particularly said. According to Yushchenko, today, it is possible to say that a Ukrainian-Russian group is working on it. “Contacts we have had let us state that the bilateral group is working and soon we shall have a document that will make exploitation of Kerch Strait safer,” Yushchenko concluded.
