The strike of dock workers of Sea Port of St. Petersburg (Morport OJSC) results in loss of $1.5 million per month, Sergei Chelyadin, Director General of Morport, told journalists Friday according to Gudok.Ru. Mr. Chelyadin says the throughput of Morport’s stevedoring companies fell by 70% during the strike. “The strike is a legal right of workers in our country, however, the issue is how civil the organization is. After thorough analysis of the legal situation we will apply to the court,” Mr. Chelyadin says. As it was reported earlier, the strike started on November 13, at 08:00 a.m. (Moscow time) by the workers of First Stevedoring Company, Second Stevedoring Company and Forth Stevedoring Company of Morport OJSC under initiative of Russian Port Worker’s Trade Union. They demanded a 30-percent rise in tariffs and guaranteed wages.
