In January-October 2007, the port of Ventspils (Latvia) handled 25.99 million tonnes (+7.2%, year-on-year), RZD-Partner reports quoting Igor Udodov, head of the port’s marketing department. In the reported period, the port handled 13.9 million tonnes, 3.5 million tonnes of coal cargo, 2.7 million tonnes of mineral fertilizers, 1.8 million tonnes of crude oil. The highest growth was demonstrated in transshipment of grain cargo – 4-fold to 280,000 tonnes. Handling of non-ferrous metal grew by 27.6% to 83,000 tonnes, ammonia - +17.5%. As for oil products, transshipment of diesel fuel amounted to 9.5 million tonnes (+14.4%, year-on-year).
In the reported period, the port of Riga handled 21.451 million tonnes of cargo (-1.1%, year-on-year), the port of Liepaja – 3.333 million tonnes (+0.1%).
