In January-September 2007, net loss of Baltiysky Zavod OJSC under Russian Accounting Standard amounted to RUR 700.775 million against profit of RUR 650.740 million in 2006, the company’s quarterly report reads according to RBC. Proceeds of Baltiysky Zavod grew 5 times to RUR 3.6 billion while the loss from sales totaled RUR 600.417 million against profit of RUR 144.887 million in 2006.
Baltiysky Zavod, JSC is one of the leading enterprises in the Russian shipbuilding industry. Currently the Baltiysky Zavod shipyard specializes in construction of icebreakers and ice-classed vessels (with nuclear-powered propulsion, as well as conventionally powered), large commercial vessels for carrying various types of cargo, and naval ships. One of the most promising fields of the shipyard's activity is the construction of floating nuclear power plants.
