TransContainer JSC and VolkswagenRus have signed a contract under which the components for VW Passat, VW Jetta, VW Tuareg and Skoda will be delivered from Koshitse (Slovakia) and Mlade Boleslav (Czechia) to Volkswagen plant in Kaluga (Russia), press center of TransContainer informs.
“On November 28, the plant will be opened officially. We have already sent first 300 containers for cargo transportation from Czechia and Slovakia,” Peter Baskakov, General Director of TransContainer said after signing the contract. According to Mr. Baskakov, this type of cargo will be transported exclusively by the company’s own rolling stock.
“At first, containers will be delivered by railway to Kaluga and then by road transport to the plant while in future the delivery will be arranged to by railway to the plant’s approach track,” Mr. Baskakov says.
According to him, the company is viewing opening of its own agency at the plant’s territory to solve all related logistics issues. Opening of such agencies at large plants is a part of the company’s strategic plan.
