Russia has all prerequisites for development of its chemical and petrochemical industry, Russian Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov said at a government meeting on Wednesday, Itar-Tass reports.
“This is a great matter of demand, the raw material base and personnel. But the main goal of the presented strategy is the enhancement of competitiveness and achievement of a proportionate production output, quality and assortment to Russia’s demand at international markets,” Zubkov said.
He said the document had been agreed with other sectors’ strategies and prognoses of Russia’s development.
The prime minister said the chemistry industry made about 1,000 large and medium-size enterprises, over 100 research organizations, design offices and production associations, at which 800,000 people are employed.
The production will increase by about four percent in 2006.
The prime minister said the programme is to attract investment into the sector.
“The shortage of production has led to a slowdown and, in a number of cases, to a halt of building the production sectors,” Zubkov said.
