Container throughput for October hit a record 250,000 TEU, up 29.2 per cent against the same month last year and container throughput for the first 10 months surpassed that 2006.
The port of Le Havre's dry bulk business also posted a year on year increase of 21.8 per cent in the first 10 months to 3.8 million tonnes, including two million tonnes of coal, up 15.4 per cent over last year.
But liquid bulk suffered a decline of 4.2 per cent from January to October year on year, a fall to 37.7 million tonnes. This was attributed to five-year scheduled stoppage of the Normandy refinery.
Declines were also posted in the first 10 months in crude oil volume, which fell to 27 million tonnes, off 5.1 per cent, as well as in refined product throughput, which fell to 9.1 million tonnes, off 3.9 per cent year on year.
