The port authority newsletter said box tonnage of 8.37 million tonnes (up 6.9 per cent) helped general cargo to a 5.1 per cent improvement on 14.48 million tonnes, which also included a 6 per cent rise in ro-ro traffic.
Liquid bulks maintained on an upward trend, finishing the period 6.6 per cent better on 2.83 million tonnes, but total port traffic slipped 3.5 per cent to 80.2 million tons due to continuing lower demand in the high volume oil and dry bulk sectors.
