Reports say the counrty is bracing for the return of tropical storm Hagibis, which crossed the country last week and has claimed fourteen lives.
Hagibis is likely to strengthen over the South China Sea before it would enter the Philippines Area of Responsibility (PAR) Monday afternoon. It is expected to make landfall in northwestern Palawan late Tuesday evening.
The tropical storm is expected to merge with another tropical depression, Nonoy, over the Philippines Sea on Thursday before it heads for Japan.
Last night, category one typhoon Mitag lashed across northern Philippines displacing thousands but has since moved north towards Japan.
Mitag's path had caused the Philippine Coast Guard to stop the movement of all ships entering or leaving the Bicol region.
Hundreds of passengers were left stranded due to the sailing ban with the port of Tabaco in Albay most seriously hit with a complete shutdown of all normal operations.
