Leningrad region needs 300 kilometers of new roads for development of ports

To ensure development of port complexes in the Leningrad region, it is necessary to build and reconstruct over 300 kilometers of highways, which is to cost RUR 45 billion, RBC reports with reference to the materials of the regional Government’s information department. To develop the 178-kilometer long route linking the port of Ust-Luga with Veliki Novgorod. The project will cost some RUR 30 billion. In 2006, investments into the development of the regional roads totaled RUR 1.590 billion including RUR 990 million allocated from the regional budget and RUR 600 million – from the federal budget. Financing of the regional road development is to be raised 1.5-fold to RUR 2.36 billion by 2010. In 2010-2015, it is planned to allocate RUR 40 billion for development of the Leningrad region’s roads within the framework of Russian program for transport infrastructure development.
