In 2007, total investments into construction of railways in the North-Western region of Russia will make some RUR 31 billion, RZD-Partner reports. Next year the investment will be raised by RUR 10 billion. According to Viktor Stepov, head of Oktyabrskaya Railway, the majority of the sum will be spent for development of railway approaches to the port of Ust-Luga. Besides, investment into construction of new high-speed line between St. Petersburg and Helsinki has made RUR 4.2 billion this year, while in 2008 it will get RUR 13 billion.
